Services

Home Run Finance

I offer a proven blend of financial expertise, commercial acumen, and investor-facing insight tailored to the needs of high-growth SaaS businesses.

My core services range from getting involved in the financial detail through to high level long term planning.

1. Cash Flow Planning & Management

It’s estimated that 82% of businesses fail due to ineffective cashflow management and this is a problem that is particularly acute for many SaaS companies where founders are trying to press the accelerate button to grow sales whilst often still trying to establish product-market fit. Managing cash is critical especially in these scale up phases where burn rates can fluctuate and funding cycles can be tight.

I provide comprehensive cashflow forecasting and scenario planning to ensure you always have a clear view of your liquidity runway. My approach includes proactive working capital management (through managing your payables and receivables) and regular reforecasting to adjust for real-time market conditions or operational changes.

Finally I’ll advise you on financing initiatives including equity or non-dilutive fundraising, draw up reporting packs that investors will require and be the finance presence that you need in face to face meetings with funders.

2. Financial Reporting with a SaaS Lens

I build and refine financial reporting structures that give leadership teams clear visibility into key SaaS performance metrics. These include, amongst others:

  • Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)
  • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
  • Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV)
  • Churn and Retention Rates
  • CAC Payback Period
  • Gross Margin and Unit Economics

In my experience investors or potential purchasers of your business look at such metrics very closely and they seek to ensure that management have a deep and grounded understanding of them and how they are affecting underlying growth.

Whether you're reporting to your internal team, Board, or investors, I ensure that reporting is timely, insightful and aligned to what matters most in a recurring revenue model.

3. Financial Planning & Analysis

I bring extensive experience in designing and delivering robust financial planning and forecasting processes. This includes multi-scenario budgeting, departmental cost tracking and profitability analysis across products, services or geographies. I help leadership teams interpret their data to support growth decisions—whether including pricing strategy, resource allocation, or market expansion.

I can help you look forward to the future from a financial perspective and give you the information necessary to meet investor expectations.

4. Strategic Financial Advisor

Additionally, I serve as a trusted financial advisor to founders and executive teams. I support strategic decisions such as:

  • Capital raising (equity or debt) and investor relations
  • Go-to-market and international expansion planning
  • Support with Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and exit readiness preparation
  • Building finance and HR functions to support growth
  • Embedding frameworks like Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s) for accountability and alignment

Never before had I met a CFO that had the depth of understanding about the rest of the business that Mark had or the passion for driving the business forward. Over the 5 years that I have worked with Mark, I have been continuously impressed by his trojan work-ethic and dedication to the company, more often (in my opinion) above and beyond the call of duty for any employee regardless of their role or position in the company hierarchy. He is a natural, but gentle communicator and is an insightful and a gifted negotiator. I have witnessed him manage conflict (internal and otherwise) with care and tenacity in order to bring contentious issues to a fair and reasonable conclusion for all and have enjoyed working alongside him during the difficult and challenging commercial discussions. But, just as important as his professional skills, I would suggest that Mark is an excellent human being, showing empathy and support for all of his colleagues as if they were family and always looking for ways to help and assist whenever possible.
